CANDAT - Research Oriented Nutrient Calculation System
General information
CANDAT is a computer software system which works cooperatively
with the user to provide nutrient information.
It is a research orientated tool that has features which respect research
users' needs. For instance, it is possible to have more than one version
of the master food file. A study begun in a previous period can continue
to use a previous food file while other studies use a more up-to-date file.
Subjects can be entered in multiple subject files and the files merged
later, based on subject characteristics, to form an analysis group.
Validation listings of all inputs are produced so that data validity
can be assured before calculations are made.
Reports can be produced in text files, automatically documented, so
that the results can be smoothly merged into a statistical package and
used with data collected from other sources.

Company information specific to CANDAT
Godin London Incorporated (GLI) has been delivering computer solutions
to client needs since 1979.
Mr. Godin has been involved in nutrition research since 1970. With a
master's degree in science (applied physiology, University of Toronto,
1972) and Ph.D. courses in epidemiology and statistics, he provides application
knowledge for the research component of GLI.
Associated with many professionals in nutrition in the development of
CANDAT, GLI continues to cooperate with them and users of CANDAT to supply
added capabilities as the needs arise.
Please note:
To make all your DOS applications (including this CANDAT) function efficiently in a Windows environment,
please install TameDos. You can find a free trial at www.tamedos.com. It really makes a big difference.
CANDAT produces its reports in printable pages. To use any Windows printer to print these pages,
use the software "Imprint".
Another software package which allows you to use any windows printer (including pdf printers)
is DOS2USB which can be downloaded at www.dos2usb.com
A trial version is included in CANDAT, and CANDAT is programmed to make use of it automatically.
A permanent licence can be had at www.gallicrow.co.uk.
Please note that...
All of CANDAT's reports can be directed to text files. Reports that create fields for input
into other programs (spreadsheets, statistical analysis programs) also produce export files in tab-delimited format.
The software above, Tamedos, Imprint and DOS2USB, take all the inconvenience out of using DOS applications.
To download CANDAT, trial version or purchase, please use the purchase candat link above.
Please e-mail GLI at support@godin.on.ca for help to install or use CANDAT after you have downloaded the file. We will respond to you as quickly
as possible, usually immediately, certainly within 24 hours.
Please do not forget to download the User's Guide as well.
